Margaretenspitze

Macrame Collective has a lovely post about Margaretenspitze a macrame technique created by Margarete Naumann in the early 1900s. Of late I've seen many examples of this intricate knot work on the Micro-macrame Facebook page and have become intrigued. Here's a lovely piece by Adriana Lazzari
She teaches this technique and has a book out called “Macramé il Pizzo Margarete”. It can be ordered from Tombolo Disegni and it is in Italian, so brush up on your language skills!

There's another book available on Margaretenspitze by Lotte Heinemann. This one is in German.

It can be ordered by contacting the Margaretenspitze website.

Okay okay okay, I have been neglecting this blog far too long (hangs head in shame). But I haven't been neglecting the micro-macrame Facebook page here:

Youuuuuuu Tooooooooob!

Other crafty people are continually bugging me to post videos of my micro-macrame techniques, but I think there are already a plethora of micro-macrame tutorials on Youtube, so I have held off. Here's a search result for Youtube alone: Micro-Macrame Tutorials on Youtube.com

Macrame Collective

Here's a lovely video of Marion Hunziker-Larsen by the Macrame Collective. If you have half a chance, go over to the Macrame Collective website and have a good long look. It is a visual feast for your glutton-y eyes!

1749 Macrame Sampler

The archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum hold a collection of textiles unparalleled to anything I've yet to see elsewhere. Take a look at this splendid sampler from 1749. Yup, 1749.
